As a photographer, I LOVE harsh directional light, and even better if there is an equally moody and dynamic sky to go with. Harsh light is dramatic when paired with the landscape of Spark’s Lake. The directional light of late afternoon highlights the texture of the volcanic rocks and lava flows that surround the lake.
