Lincoln City, Oregon.
Cassie and Brandon love to hike and explore Oregon together, so this elopement session was the perfect way to capture some “Just Us” photos before their larger wedding later this year. It was also a fun way to have the couple’s dogs, Mira and Wesley, along for the fun!
We began in Eugene with hair and makeup, and then headed to Lincoln City to hike the coastal formation known as “God’s Thumb” – a grassy and super steep basalt pillar located on Siuslaw National Forest land. The hike is a fairly moderate 4 mile round trip and pretty easy to hike in wedding clothes!
As we were walking through the muddy trail, Meira made the most perfect paw print on Cassie’s wedding dress and it stayed there the entire time. So sweet!
The summit to God’s Thumb is not for the faint of heart as it involves coming near some very steep cliffs, but the ocean views were absolutely worth it! There is only room for a few people to safely stand at the top, but it’s perfect for an intimate elopement!
Tips for eloping at God’s Thumb : It’s free to elope at God’s Thumb in Lincoln City, OR. As with all National Forest land, you are not allowed to bring props or sets, or have exclusive use of the area (you cannot reserve the area or deny access to the public). You must stay on trail and practice Leave No Trace policies. Dogs must be on leash and parking is limited at the trailhead.
