Best scenic landscapes in Arkansas for elopements and micro weddings.
Looking to find the best vistas the Natural State has to offer for your wedding or elopement? Arkansas is a state with tons of diverse natural beauty; from waterfalls, to rivers, cliffs and yes even mountains! Elope or have your intimate ceremony surrounded by all of the beauty that the Natural State has to offer.
Petit Jean State Park
Located just one hour from Little Rock, Petit Jean State Park is a hidden gem in the middle of the south. I grew up hiking it’s trails and marveling over the story of Petit Jean- said to be a fierce woman who dressed as a boy to make passage to the new world. Today it is one of my favorite places to take couples. The peak of Petit Jean Mountain overlooks the Arkansas river, and you can count on a surreal blanket of fog to roll off the river in the morning. It’s stunning beauty at sunrise simply cannot be overstated and it’s easy accessibility makes this a perfect elopement spot. As a bonus, the park offers many wonderful hiking trails and dazzling waterfalls, including the impressive 95-foot Cedar Falls.
The Buffalo River
Arkansas natives hold our favorite floating river very dear to our hearts, and this is indeed an idyllic spot year round. If a summer elopement filled with friends and floating is what you are looking for, look no further than the Buffalo River! There are many jaw dropping sights to explore and exchange vows in front of, from the famous Hemmed-in-Hollow Falls in the Ponca Wilderness Area, to Bowers Hollow Falls, Magnolia Falls, and the absolutely stunning Beckham Creek Cave Hotel in Parthenon. Buffalo River Outfitters is a reliable avenue to book cabins for your bridal party and family, arrange a guided trip or rent your water gear!
Blanchard Springs Caverns
Imagine being led on a private tour into deep, ancient caverns and exchanging vows beneath formations that have been forming for hundreds of thousands of years. The caverns stay at a cool 58 degrees- perfect for the hot Arkansas summer. There are three cave trails to choose from, as well as an intense “Wild Cave Tour” for the more adventurous souls! End your amazing elopement experience with photos in front of the humbling Mirror Lake Waterfall.
Hawk’s Bill Craig/Whitaker Point
This spot is famous for epic proposals. I call it the Taft Point of the South. Its iconic views overlook the Ozarks, and it’s particularly stunning in the fall. This is a spectacular spot for an elopement- as long as you aren’t afraid of heights!
St. Catherine’s at Bell Gable
Alright this is more of a traditional wedding venue than the rest of the places on our list- but can you blame us for including St Catherine’s at Bell Gable in Fayetteville? Its ivy covered chapel is a right out of a fairy tale. Visit their website to take a look!
Flatside Pinnacle is a short, less then 1 mile hike to 360 degree overlook. Named “The best places to see a sunset in Arkansas” Flatside Pinnacle is the perfect for a small family wedding or just-the-two-of-you elopement.
Rattlesnake Ridge is equally impressive, with a slightly longer 2.2 mile hike than Flatside Pinnacle. In autumn, Arkansas displays stunning fall colors, and both locations are great choices to take in the view.
I’ve spent a lot of time boating around Fairfield Bay and my parents have a cabin right on the water. It’s a fantastic place for summer sunshine, hikes, and adventure elopements on the water. 2024’s total solar eclipse will see totality right over Fairfield Bay!
Located in the Ouachita Mountains, Hot Springs has a vibrant downtown economy, plenty of quaint bed and breakfasts to choose from, and -of course- historic hot springs to enjoy before your big day! Just 15 minutes down the road you’ll find Garvan Botanical Gardens which features the world-famous Pinterest-worthy Anthony Chapel; a glass walled chapel in the forest that looks almost elven!
In the heart of the Arkansas Ozarks, Eureka Springs is a happenin’ mountain town and popular wedding destination. Sunsets in the Ozarks are out of this world and Eureka Springs hosts miles of scenic trails, adventure sports, and a vibrant music scene. It’s the perfect mix of Arkansas natural beauty and history, and luxury tourism.
