Johanna + Kareem's Adventure Waterfall Elopement
Johanna and Kareem contacted me to plan their adventure elopement from out of state. The two requirements: a waterfall and an adventurous location that not just anyone would be able to access. We discussed a few options all across the Pacific Northwest, and finally settled on Abiqua.
The Hike
This hike is pretty challenging, and the road to the waterfall is known for being periodically washed out. I highly recommend doing this hike with someone who has done it before! There are so many false trails, it can be difficult to know which way you are going for your first time. I have hiked here a handful of times, and each time the road has different features from the previous season’s rains!
It’s definitely a challenging hike for most people, but this crew was well prepared! In fact, the couple hiked the entire trail the day before just for fun!
Getting Dressed + Ceremony
Soon after sunrise, we arrived at the waterfall, and it was as stunning a sight to see as always! I took some time to capture the couple’s rings and vow books and their personalized coffee mugs. The rust colors of Johanna’s bouquet was a perfect complement to the moody autumn atmosphere.
Johanna’s daughter read a special note she had wrriten for the occasion and the couple exchange vows in front of the falls. We were the only ones there and had this entire wonderland to ourselves for the entirety of their ceremony and photos.
Next it was time to hike back and everyone was looking forward to getting warm and dry, and the big breakfast Johanna had waiting for everyone at the Airbnb!
Breakfast Celebration
Johanna and Kareem are known for their love of breakfast foods, so it made perfect sense to end the morning with all of their family’s favorite breakfast foods! Then, it was cake time!
